The palettes of landscapes of Podstrana are truly remarkable: from the mountain peaks to the Adriatic coast and to the banks of the river Žrnovnica. The balmy Mediterranean climate and havens of tame, pristine nature are bound to make any stay in Podstrana truly unforgettable.

The small village of Gornja Podstrana, where Villa Tomasovic is located, is situated in the mountains. Here, time stands still as you will experience Croatian rural life in a place where old stone houses are preserved. From the village you have a stunning view over the Adriatic sea and Split. To tour all of Podstrana's natural and cultural assets, wander around the village or choose one of the various activities offered here from cycling to mountain climbing.

At the foot of the mountain, you will find the stunning beaches of Podstrana to cool off on a hot day in the Adriatic Sea. By car, you will be there in a mere seven minutes. The coast waters in Podstrana are among the cleanest in the entire country. If you fancy being among crowds, it will take you only about 15 minutes to drive to Split, the second largest city of Croatia.

Beaches

From Villa Tomasovic it is a mere 7 minute drive to the beach at the foot of the mountain. Podstrana has stunning beaches. The coast waters here are among the cleanest in Croatia. Jump in the Adriatic sea or enjoy a cocktail in one of the beach bars.

Cycling

Cycling is one of the best ways to explore the stunning natural features and traditional architecture of Gornja Podstrana. Cycle tours are of various difficulties and are good for families as well as experienced cyclists. Of course you can also rent your own bicycles and follow one of the cycling trails.

Hiking

Gornja Podstrana is the starting point and intersection of several hiking and walking trails. Explore the old city or walk up the mountain to the church of Sveti Jure. For the experienced hiker there are a number of longer hiking trails where you experience nature and culture.

Kayaking

Kayaking along the coast of Podstrana and Stobreč Bay is perfectly complemented by continuing the ride into the tame Žrnovnica river to enjoy the idyllic river landscape with lush vegetation and a variety of fish and bird species.

Horseback riding

If you do not want to walk or cycle, join one of the horseback tours to tour Podstrana and surrounding villages. Follow in the footsteps of ancient Romans and enjoy the serenity of nature and Podstrana's panoramic view.

Climbing

For the adventurous traveller Podstrana also has a lot to over. Go rock climbing in Podstrana and turn your vacation into an exciting adventure. The Perun climbing area comprises over forty directions with difficultly levels that range between 4c and 8a.

To eat a delicious meal you do not have to go far. Gornja Podstrana has a variety of traditional Croatian restaurants at a walking distance from Villa Tomasovic. The cuisine of Podstrana comprises Mediterranean dishes made with organic ingredients including fruits, vegetables, fresh seafood and first-class homemade wine and olive oil.
